Got a really bad feeling about this one. Pie for Millwood would be a terrible trade by any standards...Hernandez or Erbe for Millwood isn't an unreasonable trade in terms of value, and would be a defensible trade for a team that was already close to contention and just needed to shore up the rotation to put them over the top, but it's a terrible trade for the Orioles at this point in their history.

Ummm...whereas...if it's for Chris Ray, then I'm on board with it! :D

can anyone say stop gap? Who are the orioles actually pursuing that are not considered stop gaps?

I like the trade' date=' however, I don't think it is any different the what we have been seeing the past 12 years[/quote']

Basically the Orioles are getting the Rangers to deal Millwood and $ for a player they might have non-tendered.

This is a fantastic deal for the Orioles.

Assuming this goes through, how should this affect Macphail's approach to bringing in additional starting pitching (Lackey, Bedard, Pineiro)?

Schmuck seemed to the think the Millwood deal would rule out another expensive starter like Lackey or Pineiro, but my guess is that we'd still be interested in Bedard and Harden.
